Wayne McConahy was born in Altoona, PA, and graduated from Penn State with a BS and MS degrees in Industrial Arts / Technology Education. Wayne and his family has resided in southeastern PA since 1973. He taught in Quakertown for 36 years and was a part of the SE PA consortium to transition teachers from IA to Tech ED. He served as president of the PA Technology Student Association Board of Directors and State Conference Director for eight years.
Wayne began hunting in the Quehanna Wilds in the mid 1960s. He built a camp on Wykoff Run, Sinnamahoning, PA in 1968. He and his friends have been following the elk since then. He started the KECA Lenape Wapiti Chapter in 2012 and is active an active member. He is a founding member and Life member of Keystone Elk Country Alliance, along with being a member of the habitat committee since the beginning. He and his chapter have been doing offsite parking for the Elk Expo for many years.
Wayne and his wife, Darcy, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They currently reside in Coopersburg, PA, along with their son, Rob, and their daughter, Kelly’s family reside in nearby Pennsburg. They enjoy watching and spending time with their grandsons, Jensen and Brannon.
