Description
The conservation education specialist works under the conservation education coordinator to assist with public outreach and education. Responsibilities and expectations within the conservation education department include but are not limited to:

  • Memorizing various educational programs/lesson plans
  • Assisting with the teaching various educational programs/lesson plans
  • Assisting with all tasks that are required through our distance learning program
  • Assisting with KECA events/activity days
  • Monitoring trails and enforcing safe wildlife viewing techniques at the ECVC
  • Assisting with the care of animals in live exhibits
  • Composing educational or informative articles for our Tracks & Racks magazine
  • Answering questions and interacting with visiting guests
  • Writing the monthly KECA newsletter and its distribution
  • Planning, advertising, and teaching weekend programs

Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree required in conservation, wildlife management, education or related majors or equivalent relevant experience.
