Privacy Policy for ElkXplorer

ElkXplorer (“the App”) is provided by Keystone Elk Country Alliance (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy explains how the App handles your information.
Information We Collect
We do not collect or store any personal information, and we do not share your information except as described below. The App does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking tools of our own, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Some features use third-party services, described below.
Information Stored on Your Device
Any preferences or content you save in the App stay on your device. We cannot access them. Deleting the App removes this data.
Content Downloads
When the App downloads maps, points of interest, or other content from our servers, our servers may record standard technical information such as your IP address. We use this only to deliver content and keep our services secure.
Location
If you choose to show your position on the map or get driving directions, the App will ask for permission to access your device’s location. Your location is used only to display your position and provide directions. We do not link your location to your identity or use it for any other purpose. You can change location permissions at any time in your device’s Settings.
Showing your position on the map happens entirely on your device. When you request driving directions, your location is sent to our server, which forwards it to the OSRM routing service operated by FOSSGIS e.V. to calculate your route. Our server may record the request briefly in standard server logs but does not otherwise store it or link it to you. FOSSGIS records routing requests in its server logs and handles them under its own privacy policy: https://routing.openstreetmap.de/about.html
Maps
Map data is downloaded from our servers and stored within the App. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright). Driving directions are provided by OSRM using OpenStreetMap data. Map label fonts are loaded from CARTO, which may receive your IP address when the map loads. CARTO handles this information under its own privacy policy: https://carto.com/privacy
Live Cameras
The App includes live elk camera streams provided by PixWildlifeCams and hosted on YouTube. When you view a live camera, YouTube (operated by Google) may collect information such as your IP address, device information, and viewing activity, and may use cookies or similar technologies. This information is handled under Google’s privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. We do not receive any personal information from YouTube.
Crash Reports
If you choose to share crash data with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. These reports do not identify you.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above.
